Pre-Move Strategies for In-House Moving Surveys in Essex County, MA and southern NH areas.
1.   Why would someone use this service?
I can help you remove stress and quide you through the moving process.  Get the
truth.  Order your new furniture and be sure it can be delivered.  Don't pay for moving
services that you don't need.  Make the final decision on buying that home, by knowing
ahead of time that your large furniture will get through the doorways and up the stairways.

2.   Who would need such a service?
Anyone that has never moved before.  Anyone who has never hired a professional
mover.  Every person who wants true answers to relocation questions before the mover
does a survey.  Wouldn't you like to know which moving services are really necessary?
Are you someone who wants to order a custom-made sofa that will fit through the
doorway, and other parts of the house for sure?  Maybe you are thinking about moving to
an old house with small doorways and stairways...............will your furniture make it
through?  What If you have to wait 6-10 weeks for a new living room set, and then find out         that the delivery people can't make it fit, it will have to be returned to the store.

3.    I have never hired a professional mover before, what do I do?
I'll show you how to choose the right mover for your type of move, as well as which
questions to ask them.  Are you moving locally, or cross country?  I will advise you
as to which questions apply.  What kind of valuation coverage should you have.
The coverages differ between local and long-distance moving.  Does it make sense
to have your household packed and crated professionally?  How much will it cost?

4.    How do I choose the right mover?
Choosing the right mover means checking to see if there are any complaints against
the company and checking to see what kind of reputation they have.  I can give you the
information you'll need to choose the movers that have the services designed just for your         move.

5.    How can I save money on my move and be ready on moving day?
I'll show you all the things you can do to be prepared before the movers show up.
I can tell what you what needs to be disassembled to be readied for the movers before
they arrive.  And I'll prepare you for your pre-move day and post-move day by giving
you a detailed list on how to supply your "survival" box for your family and pets.

6.    We want to load our own rental truck, can you teach us how?

7.    Can you teach me how to pack my fine china crystal and antiques?
I will show you the proper way to safely pack your most fragile items and what                         types of material should be used. I will stay with you for as long as you need me  to                 get it done the right way. I will show you how to protect oil paintings and glass tops                 as well as preparing a grandfather clock for transport. I do not carry                                         insurance  protection for packing and crating. It is done on a purely educational                       basis.

8.    Why don't I just let the new furniture store salespeople figure out if my new        furniture will fit?
Sales people do not have the experience that I have acquired over the decades of being            in the field. I have been in just about every possible scenario for furniture problems. I have        seen furniture returned to the store because of delivery failure more times than I can                count. Get it right the first time from the source.

9.    Would you travel to the furniture store with me and help me measure and
make a decision on what pieces will fit in my house?
I am available to go anywhere with the homeowner to help with the measurements of               furniture as well as doorways and pathways in the home. Visiting furniture stores and               home locations will take time and hourly charges will acrue.

10.   I want to buy my dream house Can you do a survey to see if my furniture will fit           through doorways, hallways, and up stairways, as well as the basement family            rooms?
I will go to your new home as long as it is in my operational area and check all                        measurements, obstacles and possible problems. This information will be compared to            the furniture that you already own or are about to purchase. This could be a long
process, if I do this at your old house, as well as your new.

11.  I am having a custom home built.  Would you work with the builder and myself            in deciding the proper dimensions of doorways, hallways and stairways for my
       large furniture and future purchases?
I will work with you and your builder for as long as you need me.You would need to show         me the furniture that has you concerned as well as anything that may be purchased at a         later date. This service would be charged by the hour as long as I am at your home site.

12.   Why do you charge more for the first hour?
I do not charge travel time to and from a clients home. I feel the time spent going to and           from, as well as the survey itself is a very fair window of time. My rate is $75/hr for the              first hour and $50/hr for every hour or portion thereof for as long as you need my service.

13.   Do you move the items for us?

I've picked out some new furniture, but I don't think it's going to fit through the doorway. Moving a sofa isn't for everybody. Sometimes It takes some pre-move strategy to get it done.
My sofa won't fit around the corner. I need Pre-Move Strategies moving mentor, Harry Lipsky!
Currently, I am servicing Essex County, MA and southern NH, only.  I will consider other  towns in northern MA, but I am NOT doing any Boston area towns at this time.

I want to buy my dream house, can you do a survey to see if my furniture will fit through the doorways, stairways and hallways of the house I want?
I am having a custom-built house constructed.  Would you work with the builder and myself in deciding the proper measurements of doorways, stairways and hallways for my large furniture, and my future purchases?
I don't do much of the physical labor anymore but I can show you all the proper methods of getting the furniture out of the house and the proper way to load the truck. I will   tell you what equipment is needed and how many people you should have. I can show you how the most fragile items will be safe in the truck as well as the largest pieces.  Also, the proper way to lift and carry.

I do not do any physical moving.  I am not a moving service;  I am a service about moving.  I can supervise, troubleshoot and coach any problems during a move, or during a furniture delivery.
PLEASE BE REMINDED THAT I DO NOT OPERATE A MOVING SERVICE.
I OPERATE A SERVICE ABOUT MOVING!
